Shooting Day Trip
By Austin | May 5, 2009
We will gather at the church at 8:30 AM on Saturday, May 9 and depart immediately for Alpine Shooting Range. We will be shooting .22 rifles and 20 gauge shotguns at the range. Those individuals who have .22 rifles that can be single shot loaded are encouraged to bring them. We also need to borrow shotguns.
Adults are invited to bring and demonstrate other guns, including black powder.
Everyone should bring a sack lunch. Camping fee is $10.00 and includes range fees and .22 ammo. Shotgun training is also included. We will also go out on the sporting clays range for some fun shooting. Sporting clay shooting will be a shared expense for those who are interested. This is usually about $.25 per round for the shell and the clay pigeons.
We will return to the church at approximately 3:00 PM.
We need adults with shooting experience to supervise this activity. Adults, if you have not already done so please contact Phil von der Heydt @817 832 7631 if you can help. Scouts, contact your patrol leader or the SPL John Stickels 817 721 9302.

Summer Camp Changes
By Austin | May 5, 2009
Please note that we are now committed to the June 28 start for summer camp… This is a change from the original summer camp calendar. We need to get our commitment list started. If you can pay fees for summer camp now, it would be appreciated. We have to make a partial payment soon. This year, summer camp is $200 for the week for scouts and $100 for adults. We encourage adults to come for all, or part of the camp week. Fees are pro rated for the number of meals consumed by the adults. Please look at your calendars and see if you can come and enjoy all or part of the week; and let us know your plans. Even if you make them on June 28.
Physical forms will be available soon. For anyone who needs a physical and cannot otherwise get one, Dan Geppert, MD will be available on the June 15 and 22 at the troop meeting.
More summer camp information and class schedules will be available soon.

Canoe Races
By Austin | April 23, 2009
Those who are planning on attending the canoe races this Saturday need to confirm their plans. We are planning on meeting at the church at 7:00am on Saturday morning and leaving for Worth Ranch. We will be there in time for the 6 mile race. I have arranged for the registration fee to be waived, but I want to get the teams registered. I noticed that the most interest came from the Eagle Patrol. Since none of the Eagle Patrol members have their Swimming Merit Badge they need to partner with an adult or a scout with the Life Saving Merit Badge. I may need some volunteers once I get commitments from the Eagles.
Please let me know your plans and availability ASAP. The race can be a race or a lazy float down the Brazos. War canoe races follow and they can be fun but usually end up capsizing. Lunch is provided as is dinner but I plan on leaving to be back by 6:00. Others can stay if they choose and have transport.
